About her
Long walks most days with my crazy collie/springer spaniel cross keep me reasonably fit, a circular route over the golf course and through the forest, often taking a coffee somewhere en route.
I have had a few careers in my time, the one from which I have just retired was in the construction industry/architecture. I still dabble.
Living in France for ten years was a joy, but I have recently left my old stone farmhouse and four acres in Normandy for a cottage in Sussex. A new adventure.
One February, I walked the 250 kilometres, through central and southern Portugal, that is the Historical Way ending at Cape Vincent. The temperature most days was a balmy 17°, very pleasant - I walked alone but with help of friends providing transport to the start and end each day. We would always find a bar on or near a beach to watch the sun go down. It would be more interesting to spend winters like this with a companion, visiting historic buildings and gardens on the way ....... maybe some wine tasting too.
I have been a lover of architecture all my life and love city life, but more as a break from country living. I love to garden, and to visit gardens, to paint and visit galleries and museums, to write and read, mostly non-fiction.

It would be good to meet someone who does not take himself too seriously, loves to kick up autumn leaves; not afraid to swing on a rope over a stream; sit on a beach and watch the sun go down.
A positive attitude to life, integrity, honesty, faithfulness and self confidence would all be traits. Maturity probably not so important.
